Installing Keyless Entry

I seen alot of people saying that installing the Keyless Entry system into a non GXE isn't worth it, well that maybe, but such a cool option is a definite must have for me, so here's a little write up on how I did it.

First you need to get all the components you need, that is:

- Keyless Entry control box (located to the right behind the glove box)

- Door handles with keypads and beepers with harness and connectors

- Door lock actuators (4 pcs), the one you got are missing the unlock sensors and the motor in the driver side unit.

- Trunk actuator (and a relay, standard blue) if you want the electronic trunk opener, you might also want to get the trunk opener button that is beside the light in the driver door.

- Good amout of free time :)

I started by running wires to the different locations, and marked them with a Dymo labeling machine (because all my wires were the same color). Since the unit will be located behind the glove box, make the wires long enough to go there.

The wiring scheme:

Large connector Keyless Entry control box (connects to similar colored wire in existing harness unless otherwise stated):

OR/B - rear door switches

G/B - goes to passenger door actuators, easiest to connect to the rear rh door harness, you need to replace the actuators with the one from the donor car, wires are already in place inside the door, but stop at the connector inside the car.

B - just ground this wire nearbye

R - only if you have a sun roof, this goes to the Ignition Relay 2, behind the kick panel on drivers side

PU - This goes to the keypads in both doors

G - Same as above

G (this is the one on the same side as the "lock" on the connector) - Connect to constant power supply

BR - goes to main switch driver side door, just find the brown wire in the connector for driver side door harness

BR-W - Constant power supply and beeper in both doors

BR-B - Driver door actuator (replace the actuator with one from donor car)

Small connector:

BR - JC8 pin 31 the one beside the SMJ behind the fuse panel

L/B - only if you have a sun roof, this goes to the overhead lighting/sun roof control switches, just remove the panel alonside the front window on passenger side to get easy acess to this wire

GY/L - JC8 pin 28 or GY/R on door lock timer

P - This goes to the keypads in both doors

OR - This goes to the beepers in both doors

Y/L - Goes to the Key in switch behind the steering wheel, in my car this wire was not Y/L but R/W

G/OR - This goes to the keypads in both doors

LG/B - Only if you have the electric trunk opener, goes to trunk actuator relay, ground

GY - This goes to the keypads in both doors

LG - Same as above
